NMS Library Research Databases

A database is a digital collection of information resources that can be used for research. Some databases provide information on only one subject area, such as world history or the performing arts, while other databases cover hundreds of different subjects! Databases are excellent sources of information for research projects because they provide only reliable, trustworthy information.

  • ABC-Clio Ancient and Medieval Eras: This database explores ancient civilizations, dynasties, and empires; it profiles city-states, countries, and regions of the ancient and medieval world, providing information that encompasses intellectual developments, wars and cooperation, religion, cultural practices, and more from prehistory through to the beginning of the Renaissance! Use this database to research: ancient primary and secondary sources, such as the Code of Hammurabi, the Edict of Milan, and 1,800 more; biographies of important figures such as Alexander the Great, Confucius, and Eleanor of Aquitaine; ancient inventions, technology, and weaponry; and ancient feats of engineering and discovery.
