The Key Club at Lynbrook High School in the Lynbrook Public School District helped the community’s senior citizens ring in the holiday season. On Dec. 22, Key Club members went to Greis Park where senior citizens have weekly gatherings. There, they engaged with and entertained the seniors and provided them with a bountiful meal.

The senior citizens were overjoyed to be in the presence of high school students through games and conversation. They enjoyed lunch served by the students, which was provided by Lynbrook Deli.

Students also handed out raffle tickets, and senior Jaden Harvin sang holiday songs for the senior citizens.

“[I liked] seeing how elated all the senior citizens were when they won [the raffle],” Jaden said. “I think it meant a lot to the seniors that high school students gave up their free time to serve them lunch, talk and have a good time.”

“My favorite part of the event was being able to eat lunch with the senior citizens — they were very excited to spend time?with us and tell us their stories,” said senior Luca Russo, who also volunteered. “They really enjoyed having people to talk to.”
The Key Club is no stranger to holding events with the senior citizens of Lynbrook, and each occasion is a celebratory one. During the year’s luncheon, the holiday cheer was evident.
