At the Young Leaders in the 21st event, hosted over the weekend by Assemblyman Brian Curran, Lynbrook High School students Nora Kane and Caiden Lung were honored for making a positive difference in the community.

Nora Kane has ascribed to the motto, “To Whom Much is Given, Much is Expected” her entire life. An academic standout, Kane is a National Merit Finalist and the Salutatorian of Lynbrook’s graduating class. She is also the winner of the 2024 New York State Science and Engineering Fair for Physics and Astronomy and will compete at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles this May. Nora is most likely to attend the California Institute of Technology, where she will pursue a degree in physics.

Lung is the Valedictorian of the 2024 graduating class. Lung is vice president of the National Honor Society, where he promotes leadership, service, character and scholarship. Lung co-founded a club for the Science Bowl, in which the team competes every year, and the hard work paid off as they boasted a better performance this year for Lynbrook. His academic and lacrosse career will continue at Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he will be majoring in Biomedical Engineering.

“Young people are powerful. Nora and Caiden are great examples of young leaders,” Curran said. #OwlProud
