Lynbrook Challenger team steps onto field with junior, varsity teams

Lynbrook athletes showed their Owl pride on Oct. 8, as the Challenger team partnered with members of the girls junior and varsity soccer teams for a series of joint practices and friendly games that left a lasting impact.
Teams gathered on the North Middle School field to participate in practice runs designed to promote inclusion and foster friendships. Challenger players were hand-in-hand with their peers as they jumped, dribbled and ran through various routines. At the goals, Challenger players shot and scored as they were met with cheers of encouragement.
“The smiles on everyone’s faces said it all,” said North Middle special education teacher Bryton LaMantia. “This wasn’t just about soccer. It was about belonging, connection, and showing our students that everyone has a place on the field.”
