Remote Instruction During School Closures

Staying connected. Staying learning. Staying safe.

When severe weather or other emergencies prevent us from opening school buildings, the district may transition to Remote Instruction Days. This page is your central resource for expectations, schedules, and best practices so learning can continue smoothly at home.

How Remote Instruction Works

Remote learning is designed to provide continuity, structure, connection, and support for students and families.

  • Continuity: learning continues even when buildings are closed
  • Structure: students follow a predictable plan
  • Connection: teachers and students remain engaged
  • Support: staff remain available to assist families

Remote instruction may include:

  • Live virtual sessions
  • Independent learning activities
  • Posted assignments in district learning platforms
Student Daily Expectations

On Remote Instruction Days, students are expected to:

  • Log in and review the posted agenda
  • Attend scheduled virtual sessions
  • Complete assignments as directed
  • Submit work within the timeframe provided
  • Communicate respectfully with teachers and classmates

Attendance: Attendance may be determined by participation in live sessions and/or completion of assigned work.

Family Support Tips

Families can support remote learning by:

  • Establishing a consistent routine
  • Providing a structured workspace
  • Monitoring login and participation
  • Encouraging age-appropriate independence
  • Communicating with teachers if challenges arise

We recognize that every home environment is different. Communication and flexibility are essential to student success.
