Community shows support for Lynbrook Challenger team homecoming
Owl pride beamed in the Lynbrook High School gymnasium on March 3 as the Challenger team held an exciting face-off against Valley Stream South Middle School during their homecoming game.
Challenger players from the district’s special education program were joined by a supportive crowd of peers, teachers and community members who filled the stands to cheer them on. They proudly demonstrated sportsmanship and determination as they ensured each player had their time to shine. The welcoming and energetic atmosphere highlighted the district’s commitment to inclusion and the importance of providing meaningful opportunities for all students to participate in school activities.
“This homecoming game meant so much to our students,” said special education teacher Bryton LaMantia. “Playing on the high school court and hearing the crowd cheer them on gave them a real sense of pride and belonging. Moments like this remind our students that their hard work matters and that they are an important part of our school community.”
