Lynbrook PTA Council hosts Parent University on Financial Literacy

The Lynbrook PTA Council, in partnership with Lynbrook Public Schools, hosted an engaging and informative Parent University workshop this past Wednesday centered on the important topic, Financial Literacy: Tools to Build Smart Money Habits and Plan for the Future. The session was presented by Mr. Jamaal C. Boyce, an author, investor and financial literacy educator dedicated to empowering families through practical financial knowledge.
The event was well attended by parents and community members, all eager to gain insight into a topic that is often perceived as complex and intimidating. Mr. Boyce delivered a dynamic and relatable presentation, breaking down financial concepts into clear, accessible ideas that resonated with attendees of all backgrounds. His ability to simplify what can often feel like a daunting subject made the session both engaging and highly impactful.
Throughout the workshop, Mr. Boyce emphasized the importance of starting early and developing strong money habits, highlighting how critical it is for both families and schools to work together in teaching children the fundamentals of financial responsibility. His message underscored that building a healthy financial mindset is not only beneficial, but essential for long-term success.
Mr. Boyce is also the author of Investing Is The Best Thing, along with a kid-friendly edition, both of which serve as practical guidebooks for individuals and families looking to better understand investing and long-term financial planning. Designed as beginner-friendly resources, the books break down complex financial concepts into relatable, easy-to-follow lessons, making them invaluable tools for young adults and parents alike. Both titles are available for purchase on Amazon.
In addition to sharing his expertise during the presentation, Mr. Boyce provided actionable advice for those interested in investing— for themselves, their children and their future. He also offers services to individuals, families and schools, working one-on-one or with groups to deepen understanding of investing and support long-term financial planning goals. His passion for financial literacy and his ability to connect with the audience made a lasting impression on all in attendance.
The Lynbrook community is incredibly grateful for Mr. Boyce’s time, insight and commitment to educating others. Events like this continue to highlight the value of Parent University in bringing meaningful, real-world learning opportunities to families across the district.
