Lynbrook Public Schools

The Waverly Park Elementary School community in the Lynbrook School District thanked local veterans through a special student-led tribute on Nov. 7. 

Students with veteran family members invited them to the school, where they were greeted by all the school’s students as they gathered on stage. Students honored the veterans through tributes that included speeches and poems, as well as songs from the chorus and members of the band. A wall promoting peace with students’ artwork was also proudly displayed. Afterwards, veterans visited classrooms to share their wisdom, show equipment from when they served and answer students’ thoughtful questions.
