Lynbrook middle schoolers challenge themselves with nationally recognized math test

For the third consecutive year, Lynbrook Middle School students put their mathematical intellect to the ultimate test by participating in the American Mathematics Competition.
The AMC 8 is a nationally recognized, 25-question, 40-minute mathematics competition designed for students in grade eight and below. It challenges participants with topics such as counting and probability, estimation, proportional reasoning, the Pythagorean Theorem, spatial visualization, and interpreting graphs and tables. This competition provides students with an excellent opportunity to engage in rigorous mathematical problem-solving beyond the standard curriculum.
Students from North and South Middle Schools who were selected to compete in this national competition received certificates of completion. This year’s top scorer from North Middle School was Robert Doran. At South Middle School, two students earned top honors with tied scores: Nolan Murphy and Francis Zangari. Congratulations to these three scholars not only for leading their respective schools, but also for scoring in the top 25 percent nationally.
Participants from North Middle School included Noelle Hannan, Ava Schwarz, Diego Rojas-Young, Emily Berbick, Mary Chatterton, Rylee Blyskal, Zoe Goumennyi, Abigail Berghorn, and Avery Thienachariya. Participants from South Middle School included Samuel Malinka, Finn Pollicino, Howard Lin, Sophie Macklin, Thomas Rottino, Jeffrey Torero Velasquez, Haddie Emerson, Islan Sookram, Sthapana Bam, Melinda Mobijohn, Ryder Kastin, Nicole Stimac, Hailey Lovaglio, Juliana Nika, Charlotte Cangiano, Seth Gonzalvo, and Joseph Giordano.
Congratulations to every student who represented Lynbrook exceptionally this year and set the bar remarkably high.
