Freshmen get the lay of the land at Lynbrook High School

The newest Owls joining the Lynbrook High School community got a head start on the school year on Aug. 27 during freshmen orientation.
The morning began in the Lynbrook High School auditorium with presentations from high school principals, including important school information and tips for a successful high school career. Students were also introduced to their school counselors, who will serve as important resources throughout their high school experience. Students then visited local eateries to mimic a lunch during the school day.
Following lunch, students participated in group rotations that gave them the opportunity to become more familiar with the building and the resources available to them. Students received information about their lockers, found their classrooms and met new teachers before being led by members of the Student Government Association for a building tour. Freshmen also ensured their computers were updated and ready for the school year with help from staff in the technology department.
The orientation provided incoming freshmen with an opportunity to ask questions, meet members of the high school community and gain confidence as they prepare to begin this exciting new chapter.
