Marion Street students walk to mark Autism Acceptance Month
In recognition of Autism Acceptance Month, students at Marion Street School in the Lynbrook School District came together for a meaningful day of awareness, inclusion and celebration on April 1.
Wearing blue and displaying messages of acceptance and kindness, students participated in a walk around the school track that symbolized unity and support for individuals with autism. Fifth graders in the No Place for Hate Student Committee walked with their peers around the track and led discussions about how to cultivate a welcoming and empathetic environment. Following the walk, students rotated through interactive stations that deepened their understanding of individuals on the autism spectrum. Activities were designed to spark meaningful conversations among students of all grade levels.
